With 36 percent of the population living below the poverty line, Mongolia is a third-world country left in decay following the 1991 fall of Communism.
Asian Outreach’s Education and Community Development programs provide literacy classes, small business loans, and training for poor and needy families. On the spiritual side, prior to 1990, there were only five known Christians in Mongolia. That number has now dramatically increased to over 90,000. Asian Outreach has been closely involved in that change, training over 85 percent of Mongolia’s Christian leaders through their Leadership Training programs.
Dear friends, Thank you, for partnering with us in the service of His Kingdom in Mongolia. With your faithful support and prayers our leadership team could reach out and facilitate changed lives and communities for Christ. Our achieved goals this past year have been most encouraging.
WINTER KITS: Our Winter Kits project plays a vital role in our outreach ministry, preventing impoverished children from dropping out of school by providing warm winter clothes and also opening doors to evangelize their families. This year 1200 children received warm boots and clothing in 13 provinces. Jesus went to the places where the people were and met them there. Everyday in our country almost 1 million children go to school and in these schools the leaders of tomorrow are sitting in the same room as the alcoholics of tomorrow. That is why school is such an important place to build a strong presence of Christ. How children are doing is a mirror of the reality of our society. In Mongolia 70% of those who suffer from domestic violence are children under 16. 60% of our teens don't have a clear purpose in life. Suicide, drugs, alchohol is their escape from reality. We desire to be the hands of God that comforts them in their darkness, and the mouth of God to speak words of life to them in the place where they are. Schools are a priority in our mission.
LIFESKILLS: The LifeSkills program continues to run well. Children in 44 classes in state schools are receiving lessons in Biblical values and good character while at school. As one student testified "the thing I learned most is that I have value, regardless of what others say, my head is not a rubbish bin, I should be careful what I watch and listen to".. As part of the program, training days for mothers are also held, where mothers learn how to reach out to their children with affection. Workshops on fathering and mothering were also introduced as after school clubs in conjunction with local churches. More than 1000 parents attended these workshops last year. A parent's testimony, "Our society has been changing a lot but we are still trying to raise our children using our old methods and ways of thinking. This is one of the problems between children and parents. Even though I am old I have learned many things from today's training".
OUTREACH: Leaders from 73 churches received training on practical leadership; 12 mission trips were made into remote and persecuted places to encourage, mentor and empower church leaders; 200 volunteers from 50 churches mobilized to serve their neighbourhood; 300 families received personal visitations and heard the gospel; 300 children graduated VBS and learned the basics of christianity; As change occurs so do needs, so we developed discipleship manuals for over 50 churches. These manuals are a 4 week lesson plan designed to help children understand the gospel
Thank You for standing with us in the task of discipling and building future leaders!!
Lives are still being changed in the midst of an uncertain world, so let's rejoice!
Rich blessings,
Badmaa
